From dream to reality: how is a COURBET jewellery created

Between a few grams of gold and diamonds and a COURBET creation, there is only one step, or rather ten. Discover the ten stages in manufacturing a piece of jewellery, and plunge into the heart of Place Vendôme savoir-faire

Everything begins with an idea, an inspiration, a drawing. Marie-Ann Wachtmeister, Artistic Director and co-founder of COURBET, imagines and sketches each piece of jewellery from our creative studio located 7 place Vendôme in Paris.

After the initial drafts come the modelling, either as a gouache or a 3D drawing, allowing the craftsmen to create a wax prototype. The piece of jewellery starts to come to life.

Once every flaw in the wax has been corrected, it's time for the lost-wax casting process. The wax is placed in a mould, which is heated to melt it and create a hollow mould. Once the mould is formed, liquid gold is poured into its cavities to take the shape of the jewellery.

Once the gold has completely cooled, the jewellery is ready to be removed from the mould and perfected by the craftsmen. They file the gold to define its shape, then sand it to give it a shiny, brushed or hammered appearance.

Then the lab-grown diamonds enter the scene, with the setting stage. The craftsmen set the stones one by one, revealing all their brilliance by polishing the surface of the 18K gold jewellery.

And because each creation is unique, the various information attesting to the authenticity of the jewellery is laser-engraved: the name of the Maison, the hallmarks, the carat of the stone and the individual number.

The meticulous inspection of the piece by the quality control teams completes this journey, and guarantees that the jewellery meets COURBET's criteria of excellence.

The final stage, of course, is the history of the jewellery along with the person wearing it. It is up to you to write it with COURBET.
